It’s always great for Notre Dame when they can win an important recruiting battle for a stud offensive line recruit. It’s even better when they beat Michigan head-to-head for that recruit.

That’s what they just did in landing a commitment from Charles Jagusah ‍. He’s a mauler up front who is highly ranked, but only just tapping into his potential of what he can be.

Projected Position: Swing candidate at guard or right tackle

He is powerful. There’s a force he brings on contact. He absolutely decleats this linebacker at the second level in a way that you don’t see very often at any level.

Jagusah flashes a rare twitch when lined up on the defensive side of the ball. It’s not consistent, but it shows what can do off the ball.

He can be a mauler at the point of attack. He’s going to move people in the run game.

The balance and ability to mirror pass rushers is great and shows the potential he has in pass protection. He should be a plus player in that regard in college.

He needs to improve his footwork and hand placement when reach blocking.

A lot of the stuff he showed in that last clip looks fantastic, but I didn’t see enough of that ability with pads on. That’s the next step for him and maybe that might change my perception on whether or not he more of a tackle than a guard.

An athlete who grew up playing multiple sports who also is a state champion wrestler, Jagusah has the potential to be an elite guard at the college level with the traits to also play right tackle.

Aaron Banks was a bit different entering Notre Dame than Jagusah and he had to manage his weight, which won’t be an issue for Jagusah, but the power and sneaky athleticism for a big man remind me a lot of Banks. Jagusah has a chance to hit a higher level sooner than Banks did, in my opinion.
